What I offer

My services

A DJ, not a jukebox.

Over twenty years behind the decks, and pretty much seen it all: from weddings to clubs across Switzerland, from international battles to neighborhood BBQs. Today I no longer say yes to everything. I say yes to what makes sense.

Everything I've played

Weddings, private parties, art openings, clubs from Zurich to Geneva, dance battles to the other side of the world… I've set up my decks in just about every setting. And every crowd taught me something.

One memory says it all: I brought all of French-speaking Switzerland together in a club in Lucerne, with coaches chartered from Biel, Neuchâtel, Lausanne, Fribourg and Geneva. Not just mixing: building the whole event, A to Z.

Yes to what makes sense.

Portrait de DJ Shan

My expertise

All these stages shaped me. Beyond the mix, I learned to run an event, to read a room in thirty seconds, to absorb the unexpected and, above all, to aim for the real need rather than the easy effect. I know this craft from the inside: its backstage, and its traps.

Why I no longer say yes to everything

In this job, you lose yourself fast. From obeying 'play this, drop that', the DJ ends up a jukebox: told what to play, how and when. Following the trend, fine. Dissolving into it, no. Every DJ is unique, and mine has a signature.

My encounter with Christ gave me a clear bearing: knowing who I am, and how I want to keep practicing my art. I no longer chase quantity; I meet a need that looks like me. The result: far fewer dates, I turn some down myself. But every yes rings true.

I can redo anything from my past. I simply listen to each request with one honest question: would an AI, a jukebox or a jack-of-all-trades DJ do the job? Or does it truly belong to the art I offer? A generalist gets by; I've dug deep into one world, and that's where I bring what no one else can. When I show up, it's win-win. Loving your neighbor as yourself also means telling them the truth about what they really need.
